Ab Malakh Waterfall

Isfahan Province in Iran is home to a remarkable array of natural wonders, particularly its diverse waterfalls and picturesque villages, often accessible from key points like Semirom. Among these is the unique Ab Malakh Waterfall, known for a local belief that gives it its evocative name, which translates roughly to “Grasshopper Water” or “Locust Water.” Residents in the vicinity hold the conviction that the mineral-rich composition of the water possesses properties that naturally repel harmful insects, including locusts. This perceived protective quality is so valued by local farmers that they actively choose to irrigate their fields using the water from this specific waterfall, highlighting its significant role in the area’s agricultural life and traditional practices. The route leading to Ab Malakh Waterfall is generally considered neither overly complex nor particularly arduous, making it relatively accessible for visitors. Geographically, Ab Malakh Waterfall is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the village of the same name, situated about 54 kilometers from Semirom town. For those travelling from Semirom Waterfall, the distance to Ab Malakh Waterfall is roughly 60 kilometers.

Bi Bi Seyedan Waterfall

Continuing the exploration of the region’s natural attractions, not far from Ab Malakh lies the beautiful Bi Bi Seyedan Waterfall. While located in the same general vicinity, it is positioned further away from Semirom Waterfall compared to Ab Malakh. Nevertheless, the sheer beauty of Bi Bi Seyedan Waterfall makes it a worthy destination. It is situated about 3.5 kilometers from the village of Bi Bi Seyedan, which itself lies approximately 52 kilometers from Semirom. The area is graced by the presence of the abundant and clear Kasgan River flowing nearby the village. Close to this river, a charming valley known as Tangeh Nazi can be found, its name suggesting a delicate beauty. The Bi Bi Seyedan Waterfall itself is perhaps a little more rugged than the valley’s name might imply, offering a powerful natural spectacle. When travelling from Semirom Waterfall to Bi Bi Seyedan Waterfall, two main routes are available: the Semirom-Hana road, covering a distance of 67 kilometers, and the Semirom-Yasuj road, which is the shorter option at approximately 58 kilometers and is generally recommended.

Khafr village

Venturing further south into Isfahan Province, near the border with Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, is the border village of Khafr. Known for its lush green forests traversed by a gushing river, Khafr experiences intensely cold and snowy winters, earning it the local moniker “White Hell” during this season. The village and its surrounding area are renowned for their stunning natural landscapes, featuring natural glaciers, numerous waterfalls and cascades ranging in size, and abundant rivers. The beauty of these features is truly captivating and hard to overlook. A significant highlight is Khafr Waterfall, a impressive waterfall plunging approximately 35 meters. Situated a short distance from Khafr village, perhaps around 5 kilometers in the Qash Mastan valley, this waterfall is notable for its incredibly cold and almost white-looking water, especially in winter when parts of it freeze solid, making it impossible to even place a hand near it. To reach Khafr village from Semirom Waterfall, two primary routes exist: the Semirom-Hana road, which is about 84 kilometers, and the Semirom-Yasuj road, approximately 97 kilometers. The Semirom-Hana route is the shorter option for reaching Khafr village from Semirom Waterfall.

Semirom Waterfall

Naz Vanak Spring

Naz Vanak Spring, situated 6 kilometers southeast of Vanak village (35 kilometers from Semirom), is a hidden gem renowned for its delicate beauty. Reaching the spring requires crossing the Vanak River, which can be challenging for children and the elderly, making it primarily appealing to younger visitors. However, the effort is rewarded by unparalleled natural diversity. The Vanak River nourishes a rich ecosystem of trees, including almonds, pistachios, willows, and oaks. Furthermore, the area is abundant with medicinal plants, such as cumin and Shiraz chamomile, creating a truly special environment.
